Simon Denny
Simon Denny is a New Zealand artist who lives and works in Berlin. His interdisciplinary practice explores the impact of technology on contemporary society, examining the relationships between digital systems, economics, politics, and visual culture. Working across installation, video, sculpture, painting, and web-based media, Denny investigates how technological infrastructures shape contemporary life.
In 2015, Denny represented New Zealand at the Venice Biennale, and his work has been exhibited internationally at institutions including MoMA PS1 in New York, the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, Serpentine Galleries in London, and Te Papa Tongarewa in Wellington. Since 2018, he has been Professor of Time-Based Media at the Hochschule für bildende Künste (HFBK) in Hamburg, and in 2025 he was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM).
