A Talk Behind the Curtain (Razgovor iza zavjese) is a program conceived by the Book Fair(y) in Istria, presenting a series of critical and expert discussions with prominent journalists, essayists, philosophers, historians, anthropologists, and other thinkers. The program creates a space for reflection on contemporary social phenomena, moving beyond simplified interpretations of mainstream discourse and opening up broader perspectives on everyday life.

Andrej Nikolaidis is a Montenegrin-Bosnian novelist, columnist, and political commentator. His literary and journalistic work explores questions of historical memory, nationalism, human rights, and the political contradictions of contemporary society. His novel The Son received the European Union Prize for Literature in 2011, and his works have been translated into numerous languages. He is the author of several novels, short story collections, and essays, and has been a long-standing columnist for the Montenegrin portal CDM.

Aljoša Pužar is a cultural theorist, writer, and Professor of Cultural Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana. He has lectured at universities in Trieste, Berlin, and Rijeka, and between 2006 and 2016 taught cultural studies, cultural anthropology, cultural geography, and women’s studies at universities in South Korea. His research and literary work focuses on border studies, cultural theory, Korean culture, literature, and essay writing.

The event is organised in collaboration with the Book Fair(y) in Istria.
